HeatSeekers energy action to arrive in Winchester

An energy efficiency-detecting vehicle arrives in Winchester District this month as part of an active public energy saving initiative.

The ‘green machine’, dubbed as HeatSeekers vehicle and used by the Energy Saving Partnership, uses thermal imaging to spot energy openings in local houses.

“The HeatSeekers thermal imaging vehicle has already created quite a buzz in the sector and we are delighted to see it in action in the Winchester District,” says Keith Hewitson of ESP.

The HeatSeekers vehicle points out heat leaks in houses and makes possible the improvement of insulation in those without efficient enough material.

Winchester District Strategic Partnership supports the energy saving scheme: “This scheme will help our residents see the heat and money leaking out from their homes.”

George Beckett of WDSP said, “The scheme is supported by Winchester Action on Climate Change,” and also that it will “help in the fight against rising CO2 levels”.

The main aims of the soon-to-be local scheme are to better prepare housing for energy efficiency and limit extra energy use by UK residents.

This form of environmental action has been called “one of the key front-line weapons in the battle against climate change”.
