24 hours to redesign Winchester

Teams formed of architects, engineers and other skilled professionals were gathered together on Friday to take part in 24 Hours to Save Winchester. The 24-hour project was designed to allow the teams the chance to plan out a sustainable Winchester for the year 2020.

The teams featured people from different designer professions. Hosted by Winchester School of Arts, the project saw team members of different academic backgrounds combine efforts to create diagrams, models and schemes to support their ideas for future sustainable in Winchester.

People attending the event were also given the chance to hear experts on urban design and sustainability talk passionately about the cause in a series of lectures held as the event took place.

The even attracted the attention of local councillors, designers from many regions and some popular politicians, namely Mark Oaten and Martin Tod of the Winchester Liberal Democrats.

Paul Grover, leader of the project, was very encouraged by what the teams achieved: [audio insert]

  1. that's a really awesome idea, seeing as it's gonna be something that's likely necessary, like a last minute rush to make the country sustainable after running out of fuels or killing the planet xD
